This exhibit marks the first solo exhibition of David Gallup's paintings in a major museum. It includes 72 paintings depicting the scenery and wildlife of the Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary, and was six years in the making.

Mr. Gallup was awarded the California Art Club's Gold Medal for Best Painting. Because this award is selected by the other artists in the exhibition, and because that list includes the most respected names working in contemporary representational art today, this is arguably the most significant award given to a single painting in the state of California today.

Curated by Anne Graumlich, Lead Curator for contemporary art, VCMHA Gallup is also giving public lecture and demonstrations in association with this exhibition.
