For me, the greatest day of the year is Election Day, November 2 in 1999. More than the Fourth of July or Memorial Day, this is a day when I can really feel a pride in being a citizen of the U.S.A. No matter who succeeds at the polls, seeing the power of every American to voice thier opinion in a way that cannot be overruled by politicians always restores some measure of faith in a system too often measured by its weaknesses or shortcomings.
