Cerulean Sunset
By the time I painted this sunset in Filmore I had painted nearly 100 sunsets. While each of the paintings had it's own charm, I kept only the one from each week which to me seemed the strongest and destroyed the rest leaving only the 52 works shown. I have read that Monet destroyed as much as 90% of his paintings during a couple of years during the 1890's. Ansel Adams claimed to have shown less than one percent of his photos.
