With our high speed travel, cell phones, and nuclear weapons, it is tempting to see ourselves as gods, at least in comparison to the other inhabitants of the planet. When you are overwhelmed by a spectacular sunset, there is a feeling of insignificance; powerlessness. Far from troubling, this powerlessness instills us with peace. Living without this inner-peace is the price we have paid for our illusions of Dominian. The ability of a sunset to temporarily destroy our illusions of Dominian are probably the reason we love them so much. For a short while each day, we are allowed to be humble creatures before Heaven.
