My main goal with this show was to try to make the viewer excited about sunsets again; to really stop and appreciate them. The first person to get a new enthusiasm was me. By April, I was completely obsessed with sunsets. I would make predictions about what the sunset would be like an hour before it happened or spend the whole day staring at the sky wondering how it would light up and where the best viewpoint would be. We were driving out of town on my wife's birthday for a small vacation when the sky lit up red and orange near Bakersfield. She had no choice but to watch with our dog while I pulled over and painted.
