The LEGENDARY David Gallup Plein-Air Workshop
Third Annual "Painting the Channel Islands" Expedition

If you were there last two years, you already know how amazing this was. In fact, I think we may get a 100% return rate on the workshop this year from last year's crowd. We're nearly there already! If that doesn't convince you, just keep reading.

Twenty lucky artists (and some non-painting spouses) will join me for a plein-air workshop experience of a lifetime. "Conception", the custom-built live-aboard dive ship built by Truth Aquatics, will take me, a staff of seven (including chefs and masseuse, by the way) and twenty artists to paint on location in the Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. Attendees will learn to work in the challenging environs of the islands and coastal waters therein. Kayaks will be provided, the snorkeling is amazing, and certified divers will be encouraged to join David in exploring the kelp forests and reefs of what Jacques Cousteau called "The Greatest Cold-Water Diving in the World".

Fees: $1,500 per artist, includes instruction, great food, and accommodations. Non-painting spouses (or bunk-mates) are welcome for an additional $500 each. Queen sized berths are available on a first-come first-served basis, and several will be reserved for couples. If you want the private suite for two, the cost of the trip will be $2,200. There is only one private suite.

Too much to write here, it needed it's own page. Get the whole scoop HERE.

Advanced (Plein-Air) Painting 10am - 2:00pm
Plein-Air painting is one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of being an artist, but it's not a great studio for beginners. Working outdoors brings special challenges, and requires previous experience. So, I call this Advanced Painting, even though all artists with basic skills are welcome. This is a challenging experience for any artist, but it is at the core of all great work. If you're ready to take your work to the next level, join us out of doors in fair weather, indoors during rainstorms or windstorms. A block of eight classes is $600, or drop-in classes are $100 each.

Semi-private and Private studio and plein-air classes are available as well. Contact David with questions on these or any classes. David's Cell/Studio line is (805) 657-5385, or use the "Contact" link to the left of this page.
